New Bedford Man Dead in Rhode Island Crash
A New Bedford man is dead after his car crashed into a tree in Rhode Island early Sunday.
Charlestown police, fire and ambulance personnel were called to Route 1 near Ross Hill Road just after 12:30 a.m. for reports of a crash. The first officer to arrive found the badly-damaged car off the southbound side of the road, pulled the driver from the car, and began performing CPR. Personnel with Charlestown Ambulance Rescue Service quickly arrived and took over medical care.
Thirty-year-old Justin Viera, of New Bedford, Massachusetts was transported by ambulance to Westerly Hospital and pronounced dead a short time later, according to police in Charlestown, Rhode Island.
