A New Bedford man is accused of trying to buy real cookies with fake money.

Detective Captain Steven Vicente says that at around 4:40 p.m. Monday an officer went to Seabra Market on Rockdale Ave. after police received a call about a man trying to buy a box of cookies with a counterfeit $100 bill.

Vicente says it was later learned that the suspect, identified as 20-year-old Todd Edward Doyle, had also passed three other similar bills throughout the day on Sunday.

Doyle was taken into custody without incident and was scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday morning in New Bedford District Court.
