New Bedford Man Charged with OUI After Striking Another Vehicle

NEW BEDFORD — A New Bedford man is arrested for operating under the influence after he strikes another vehicle on Acushnet Avenue.

New Bedford Police received a report around 1 a.m. this morning of an erratic driver that struck a vehicle in the 1200 block of Acushnet Avenue. The offending vehicle ended up on Clark Street, where it was found with front end damage. The driver had fled on foot.

Police located the driver, 22-year-old Nathan Silva of 173 Thompson Street, Apartment 1FL in New Bedford, and determined he was under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested and charged with OUI liquor; negligent operation of a motor vehicle; operating a motor vehicle with a revoked license, habitual offender; and leaving the scene of a property damage accident.
