NEW BEDFORD — New Bedford Police arrested a city man with a long criminal history Tuesday in connection with an attempted bank robbery earlier that day.

On February 2, New Bedford Police detectives charged Dave Ready, 51, of 629 Purchase Street, Apt. 2, with robbery.

Just after 10 a.m., patrol units were called to the Santander Bank at 128 Union Street when a male wearing a mask passed a note to a teller before fleeing the bank on foot without any money.

Police say Ready was identified through a detailed investigation by patrol officers and detectives. Soon after, detectives located him at his residence.

According to police, Ready has a long criminal history, including a pattern of not showing up for court after committing crimes. They say he has had 60 warrants issued for his arrest over a 15-year period.

Ready will be arraigned in New Bedford District Court.
