New Bedford Man Arrested with Over $70K in Cocaine
NEW BEDFORD — Over $70,000 worth of cocaine has been seized and one man arrested by New Bedford Police.
Spokesman Lt. Nathaniel Rodriguez says members of the New Bedford Police Narcotics Unit had been conducting an investigation into a cocaine delivery service being operated by Jay Ferran, 41, of 130 Fair Street, New Bedford.
Detectives stopped Ferran as he was driving in the area of Kempton Street and Rockdale Avenue at around 8:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Ferran was escorted back to his Fair Street home where detectives executed a search warrant at that address.
In the home, police found over 760 grams of cocaine, items and materials consistent with drug distribution, and over $700 in cash. The cocaine has an estimated street value of over $70,000.
Ferran was arrested and charged with trafficking cocaine over 200 grams and possession of a Class B substance with intent to distribute (subsequent offense).
