New Bedford Man Arrested on Gun, Cocaine Charges
NEW BEDFORD—New Bedford Police took another gun off the streets early Sunday morning.
At approximately 1 a.m. Sunday, officers assigned to the downtown police station were dispatched to Slainte Irish Pub, 34 Union Street, on a report of a male in possession of a handgun.
As result of their investigation, officers located a male with a loaded .380 firearm (Jimenez Arms). The male was arrested without incident. He was also found to be in possession of five small bags of cocaine. Joel Matthew Morales, 22, of 131 Blackmer Street was charged with unlawful carrying of a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm, possession with intent to distribute a Class B substance (cocaine) and possession of a firearm in commission of a felony.
