New Bedford Man Arrested on Drug, Weapon Charges

NEW BEDFORD — A New Bedford man is arrested on drug and gun charges following a motor vehicle accident.

Sunday night at about 6:10 p.m., New Bedford Police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Maxfied Street. Witnesses reported that four males fled the scene from one of the vehicles involved in the accident.

When police located the individuals, one of them, 18-year-old Justin Cardoza of 122 Emerson Street, New Bedford, was found with more than 25 grams of marijuana, and a knife larger than allowed by city ordinances.

He was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and carrying a weapon.
