New Bedford Man Arrested on Cocaine Charges

NEW BEDFORD — Members of the New Bedford Police narcotics unit arrested Joshua A. Merkman, 23, of 77 North St. Apt. 2S, New Bedford, Monday for possession of cocaine with intent to distribute following an investigation into street-level narcotics activity in the North End.

Police observed suspicious activity in a motor vehicle in the area of Brook and Davis Street. After further investigation, police located Merkman in possession of a small amount of cocaine, $322 in cash and materials consistent with drug packaging.

The arrest was made at 10:42 p.m.
