New Bedford Man Arrested in North End Slashing

NEW BEDFORD — Police have arrested a city man following an armed altercation that resulted in injuries early Monday morning in New Bedford's North End.

Police responded to the Cumberland Farms at 2012 Acushnet Avenue at around 2:30 a.m. on Monday for a report of an altercation between two people.

After an investigation, police determined that a male in the altercation had slashed another person with a knife, resulting in minor injuries.

Police arrested Allen Fumo, 43, of 140 Tarkiln Hill Road, Apt. 2, New Bedford, and charged him with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
