New Bedford Man Arrested in Connection to Theft, Break-In

New Bedford Police say surveillance video from two separate incidents led to the arrest of a New Bedford man Monday morning.

Detective Captain Steve Vicente says a man was caught on camera Thursday stealing a leafblower and a weedwhacker from an Acushnet Avenue driveway, with the same man being recorded breaking into Sunshine Donuts on Belleville Avenue the next morning.

Police spotted the man near Riverside Park early Monday morning, and placed him under arrest.

The suspect is identified as 26-year-old Jose Rivera of New Bedford. He's charged with breaking and entering in the nighttime, larceny in a building, and larceny exceeding $250.
