BROCKTON — Brockton Police searched the vehicle of a New Bedford man Friday night which lead to the discovery of an illegal firearm.

According to the Brockton Enterprise, Jeffrey Ambroise, 33, was arrested after two Brockton patrol officers spotted a Honda speeding on Cross Street. After initiating a motor vehicle stop, officers noticed the driver leaning to the right and towards the glove compartment.

As officers approached the vehicle, Ambroise appeared visibly shaken which lead officers to become more suspicious. As a result, officers asked Ambroise to step out of the vehicle and during a search found and seized a 9mm semi-automatic handgun with a defaced serial number. No rounds were in the chamber, but 10 9mm rounds were found in a magazine.

Ambroise will appear in Brockton District Court on Monday for his arraignment.
