New Bedford Man Arrested for Using Car as a Weapon

NEW BEDFORD — A city man faces a charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon following a dispute with another man on Thursday.

New Bedford Police responded to the area of 37 Bullard Street at about 10:15 a.m. on Thursday for a report of a dispute between two men.

During the investigation, police learned that one of the men, who was driving a vehicle at the time of the incident, had struck the other man with his vehicle.

The victim was conscious and alert at the scene but was transported to St. Luke's Hospital for further evaluation.

The driver, Manuel Perez Jr., 43, of 15 Lindsey Street, New Bedford, was arrested and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
