New Bedford Man Arrested for Stealing Bicycle

NEW BEDFORD - A New Bedford man is arrested on a charge of robbery.

New Bedford Police say officers were called to the 100-block of County Street just before 2:30 a.m. Monday for a report of a man who was just robbed of his bicycle. Officers were able to get a detailed description of the suspect, and soon located him riding the victim's bike.

Police approached the man who tried to flee but was soon caught. Police arrested the man, Richard Howard, 46, and charged him with unarmed robbery in addition to two outstanding warrants for his arrest.

Howard was arrested and charged in 2011 with assault with intent to rob. He was also charged with unarmed robbery in 2014.
