New Bedford Man Arrested For Off Roading Downtown

New Bedford Police arrested a city man early yesterday morning for operating his pick up truck inside the Custom House Square Park, currently under contruction. Police observed 26 year old Michael Cabral of West Rodney French Blvd operating his Toyota truck spinning the wheels and kicking up dirt. When he saw police, he crashed through a section of fencing at the park and sped south on South Second Street.

The truck was finally stopped near South Second and School Street where Cabral was arrested and charged with numerous motor vehicle violations. He later failed to pass a breathalyzer test with double the normal reading.

He's being arrainged in New bedford District Court.
