New Bedford Man Arrested for Murder in Dartmouth Shooting Death
A 23-year-old New Bedford man has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting in Dartmouth, authorities announced today.
Franklin Antonio Amaya Paredes was arrested Friday night, July 17, after law enforcement personnel secured a warrant for his arrest on a murder charge, the Office of Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn III announced today on behalf of state and local police.
On July 14, the body of a New Bedford man was recovered in the vicinity of 180 Horseneck Road in Dartmouth. The body had been reported by a passing motorist who spotted the body around 5:10 am. It was later determined that the victim, 27-year-old Jose Cortez Cornejo, had been shot to death.
Amaya Paredes will be arraigned Monday on a murder charge in New Bedford District Court. The investigation was carried out by Dartmouth Police, New Bedford Police, and Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the District Attorney's Office.
