A 19-year-old New Bedford man was placed under arrest after allegedly bringing ten grams of heroin into New Bedford District Court.

According to the Standard Times, Dominick Alves was in court Monday trying to clear up a default warrant on a drug charge. Alves appeared before a judge who ordered him taken into custody.

While he was in the court lock-up, officers found the drugs where he was seated. The heroin had a street value of $1,000.

Alves was charged with possession of heroin with intent to distribute. Police also seized $254 he had in his possession.
