A New Bedford man is under arrest after allegedly assaulting police at a house party in Dartmouth.

Detective Kyle Costa says around 2:30AM Sunday, Dartmouth officers were dispatched to 12 Carrollton Avenue in response to a loud house party.

When police arrived, several guests were asked to leave the residence. Police say one of the partygoers, 23-year-old Alexander Andrade of New Bedford, became unruly and assaulted one of the officers and resisted arrest. Andrade was arrested and has been charged with disorderly conduct, assault and battery on a police officer, resisting arrest, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
