New Bedford Men Arrested on Gun, Drug Charges in Separate Incidents
Two New Bedford men were arrested last week on gun charges in separate incidents, with one suspect also arrested on drug charges.
On Friday, April 15, New Bedford Police detectives executed a search warrant at 941 South Water Street, targeting Luis Velazquez Agosto, 21, as well as his vehicle. Police said detectives seized a Poly P80 ghost gun loaded with nine rounds, 13 bags of fentanyl weighing 20.1 grams, a digital scale, two plastic bags of cocaine weighing 0.5 grams, plastic bags with corners cut out, a blender, and $307 in cash.
Police said detectives also found three bags of fentanyl on Agosto’s person, weighing 1.7 grams.
Agosto was arrested and charged with possession of ammunition without an FID card, possession of a large-capacity firearm, possession of a large-capacity firearm in a felony,
trafficking in 18 grams or more of fentanyl, conspiracy to violate the drug law, possession
to distribute a Class B drug. He was also charged with the career criminal act due to two prior juvenile convictions of robbery and possession of a stun gun.
Police also seized a loaded Ruger .357 Magnum revolver from Yeniel Colon, 19, of 306 Ashley Boulevard that same day. He is charged with carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without an FID card, and also had a warrant out for his arrest.
