New Bedford Liquor Store Clerk Questions Weapon, Would-Be Robber Flees

New Bedford Police are searching for a woman they say tried to rob a liquor store last week.

Detective Captain Steve Vicente says a female suspect walked into the Freitas Package Store on Cove Road early Friday afternoon, and began waving what appeared to be a pellet gun and demanded money.

When the clerk questioned the authenticity of the gun and refused to open the register, the woman fled the scene on a bicycle.

She's described as a white female with light skin and a thin build with a visible tattoo on her neck.
