New Bedford High Student Caught with Knife, BB Gun in School
NEW BEDFORD — The New Bedford School Department has issued a statement regarding an incident that took place at New Bedford High School earlier this week.
"On Monday, information was brought forward to NBHS administration that a student was bringing a restricted item to school to show friends.
Administration and police responded immediately, intercepted the student upon arrival, and took possession of a knife and an empty air soft BB gun. An investigation was initiated and the student held accountable.
A hearing is currently being scheduled and the child is not in school. Due to the impact of the weather, the full investigation did not conclude until yesterday.
Parents and staff were informed.
At no time was the safety of students or staff compromised during the incident. NBHS, as with all high schools, routinely receives information that require investigation.
Each report is examined thoroughly, as the safety of students and staff is always our first priority."
