Two people are under arrest and another gun taken off the streets of New Bedford.

According to New Bedford Police, officers responded Tuesday, August 9 to the intersection of Rivet Street and County Street for a report of an altercation involving a firearm.

Police arrived to find the scene already cleared, but later spotted a vehicle traveling southbound on County Street. The vehicle was stopped and searched, and police say officers seized a Taurus Spectrum .380 handgun from inside the center console of the vehicle, which was loaded with six rounds of ammunition.

Officer Alan Kubik arrested the two people in the vehicle. The driver was identified as Felicia Dias, 31, and the passenger was identified as Rashawn Gray, 25, both of New Bedford.

They were charged with carrying a loaded firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without an FID card, possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number, and possession of a firearm without an FID card.

Gray was also charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, police said.
