You're a mean one, Mr. Grinch, but it looks like your visit to New Bedford is for a good reason.

A lot of people this time of year, including myself, are all about last-minute Christmas shopping and along with that procrastination comes to stress. That's where the Grinch comes into play, in hopes to make your shopping a little more tolerable this coming weekend.

On Sunday, December 19 from 12-3 p.m., the Grinch can be found prancing about along Purchase Street. Ted Bolduc, the owner of Cojo's Toy World at 763 Purchase Street, was the person responsible for making the call to hire Mr. Grinch and the despicable services that come along with the territory.

"This is meet-and-greet is totally free for anyone who's in the area," Bolduc said. "This time of year, we're looking to make the holiday shopping experience a delightful one that harnesses the Christmas spirit. That's when we decided, along with our neighbors Purchase Street Records, to make a call to the mean green guy."

For the past few years, I've made the switch from large department store shopping to buying small and local.

"Downtown is a great place to be in general," Bolduc concluded. "We're out here spreading holiday cheer for all who pass by."

If you still have some names you need to be crossed off your shopping list, then take advantage of the Grinch's visit this weekend. It calls for cooperative weather and a Christmas card photo op for next year's Christmas card. Happy Holidays and best of luck on your shopping endeavors this close to Christmas.

SouthCoast Experiences to Consider Gifting This Holiday Season

I propose that this holiday season, we spend a little extra time thinking about what experiences our loved ones would appreciate. Now is the time to consider how they enjoy spending their time and ask yourself how your gift can help them with their interests and hobbies. If the kids in your life already have a room full of toys, consider memories filled with love, fun, and excitement to be the better option this holiday season. Bonus points if it's something that allows you and your loved one to spend time together.
