
New Bedford Firefighters Give Local Bus Stop a Makeover
Children in one New Bedford neighborhood will now have a more comfortable place to wait for the school bus.
Members of Fire Station 7, located at the corner of Cottage and Durfee Streets in New Bedford, know the importance of keeping their community safe and it starts with the little things.

In this case, it's giving new life to a bus stop bench.
As many prep for the academic year ahead, the New Bedford Fire Department is finishing up the final touches to a local spot.

Seen in photos shared to Facebook, members of the NBFD put some TLC into what was becoming a pretty "used" park bench.
The Bench’s Busy Location
This one, however, is not in a park. It's right outside of their station, next to the bus stop, the mailbox and tiny free library. It's certainly a busy bench that's used by many.

The bench was in need of a new paint job to both the wood and the armrests. A few small tweaks that go a long way.

The team can be seen putting the finishing touches on the bench in the photo below.
The bench, now with new life thanks to the generosity of Station 7, is ready just in time for the school year.
