New Bedford Fire Department Holds Annual 9/11 Memorial Exercise
NEW BEDFORD — City firefighters and police officers gathered at the New Bedford Fire Department Headquarters Wednesday morning for an annual memorial exercise in memory of the 9/11 terror attacks.
Firefighters lined the front of headquarters at approximately 9:50 a.m., followed by a moment of silence at 10:00 a.m. Silence remained until 10:05 a.m., the time the South Tower of the World Trade Center collapsed, when dispatch put out a radio call indicating the collapse of the tower.
The Fire Department Chaplain also delivered a prayer during the exercise.
The City of New Bedford posted a photo of this year’s ceremony to its official Facebook page.
New Bedford Police Chief Joseph Cordeiro and Lieutenant Nathaniel Rodriguez were also in attendance.
