New Bedford Father and Son Indicted on Drug Charges
NEW BEDFORD — A father and son from New Bedford have been indicted on drug charges.
A Barnstable County grand jury handed down the indictment on Friday against Vincent Gomes Sr., 40, and Vincent Gomes Jr., 21, on charges of trafficking cocaine and conspiracy to violate the controlled substances act. Gomes Sr. also faces a charge of possession of a Class B substance, subsequent offense.
According to the Cape Cod Times, the father and son were arrested in january by Barnstable Police after a lengthy investigation, with officers purchasing cocaine from Gomes Jr. Surveillance of the pair's New Bedford home showed the father supplied the drugs to the son.
On January 9, police stopped the vehicle the two were in and found 48 grams of cocaine. A search of their home turned up another 90 grams of cocaine and two handguns.
