New Bedford Fatal Crash Victim Identified as Fall River Woman
Authorities have identified the victim in Sunday morning’s fatal crash on Route 18 in New Bedford.
The Bristol County District Attorney’s Office says Tierrah Martinez, 20, of Fall River was pronounced dead at the scene of the March 28 crash, which occurred just before 2 a.m. on Route 18, near the intersection of Walnut Street. Martinez was a passenger in the front seat of the vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle, a 21-year-old Dartmouth woman, sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Rhode Island Hospital. The D.A.’s Office says she remains in serious but stable condition.
When New Bedford Police responded to the scene, they found a 2009 Honda Civic in the southbound lane with significant passenger-side damage, the D.A.’s Office said, after it appears the vehicle was traveling north, veered off the road, drove into the median, and struck a cobblestone planter.
The investigation remains ongoing by New Bedford Police and Massachusetts State Police.
