One Killed in Single-Car Crash in New Bedford
NEW BEDFORD — An early-morning crash in New Bedford Sunday morning has claimed the life of a person that was inside the vehicle.
ABC6 is reporting that a single-car crash occurred on Route 18 near the Walnut Street intersection at around 2 a.m. Sunday morning.
Two people were found inside the car, and one of the victims died after sustaining serious injuries in the crash.
According to the Boston Globe, the victim was a 21-year-old woman. The paper reports the other person in the vehicle, also a woman, was taken to the hospital, and that the crash occurred when the vehicle went into the median and struck a cement planter.
The crash remains under investigation by both New Bedford Police and the Massachusetts State Police. The identity of the victim has not yet been released.
