NEW BEDFORD — New Bedford Police say the keen eye of one of their officers led to two recent arrests involving duffel bags stuffed with marijuana.

According to police, Patrol Officer Nuno Cunha spotted a suspicious vehicle on June 24 parked in a lot at 469 Ashley Boulevard. They say he observed Kyle Murry, 21, of Brockton, inside the vehicle along with a large duffel bag later found to contain about eight pounds of marijuana.

Police say Officer Cunha was previously on a call on June 11, searching an apartment, when he discovered a duffel bag containing more than 10 pounds of marijuana. That led to the arrest of Omar Rojas, 23, of 142 Collette Street, Apartment 3.

Both Murry and Rojas were charged with possession with intent to distribute a Class D substance.
