New Bedford Driver Flees After Two-Car Injury Crash
NEW BEDFORD — Police responded to a two-vehicle crash in the area of Acushnet Avenue and Nyes Lane at 8:42 p.m. Monday.
The driver of the first vehicle reported that the other driver had gone through a stop sign at Nyes Lane and Acushnet Avenue as she was driving on the avenue and struck her vehicle. The other driver fled the scene.
The driver of the first vehicle suffered non life-threatening injuries and was transported to St. Luke's Hospital.
Police found the other driver at his residence. Upon further investigation, police arrested Adam C. Jefferds, 32, of 1067 Forbes St., New Bedford, on charges of OUI liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and leaving the scene of a property damage accident.
