NEW BEDFORD (WBSM) — Two teenagers were killed and a third injured in a motor vehicle crash in New Bedford early this morning.

Crash Reported Early Saturday Morning

Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III said that just before 2 a.m., Massachusetts State Police received a 911 call reporting a single-car crash in the area of mile marker 2.1 on Route 140 south in New Bedford.

First responders arrived to find a gray 2019 Honda Civic in the wooded area to the right of the roadway. The vehicle had significant damage to the passenger side.

Victims Ejected from Vehicle

They located two people who had been ejected from the vehicle. One was a 17-year-old boy from West Yarmouth who was found near the vehicle with significant trauma. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. The second was a 15-year-old girl who was also found near the vehicle. She was taken to a local hospital, where she was pronounced deceased a short time later.

Driver Hospitalized

The 18-year-old male from Dartmouth who had been driving the vehicle was taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

The three victims were not identified by the D.A.’s Office. The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
