New Bedford Council to Consider $25 Million in Loans

Mayor Jon Mitchell is asking the City Council to approve nearly $25 million in loan orders to be used for repairs throughout the city.

Speaking on his weekly radio program, Mitchell says about $13 million will go towards rehabilitating the main runway at the City's Regional Airport.

$6 million would go towards improvements at the high school, and another $6 million would support repairs at other city-owned buildings.

Mitchell says most of those expenses would be reimbursed by government agencies.

The Council will take up the requests at Thursday night's meeting at 7pm.
