The New Bedford City Council is looking to take a proactive approach to a number of complaints regarding the LED streetlights installed last year.

Ten councilors have signed onto a motion that would schedule a ride-along with councilors, a representative from Siemens energy, and the City's Energy Manager to take a look at some of the areas of New Bedford that residents have described as poorly lit.

Councilor at Large Debora Coelho tells WBSM News the ride-along could prove quite effective.

Coelho has other concerns regarding the lights. She says the Council has been informed the lights are at the maximum wattage available, and cannot be made any brighter.

Coelho says she hopes to explore other solutions to the reported problem.
