New Bedford Restaurant Brews Authentic Benjamin Franklin Beer Recipe
As we mentioned last week. the United States is rolling out its first celebrations of the 250th anniversary of America's War for Independence. For example, next week the nation will pause to remember Paul Revere's historic ride which began in the North End of Boston and ended when he was detained by British soldiers in Lincoln.
One If By Land, Two If By Sea
The signal, you might remember, would be "broadcast" by the Old North Church lanterns: "One if by land, two if by sea." That anniversary is on the night of April 18 into the dawn of April 19. The British, for what it's worth, ended up coming by sea.

As the United States ramps up celebrations of some of the most important days, events and battles of American history, the City of New Bedford is announcing a partnership with Moby Dick Brewing Company. The City made the announcement about the launch of “Visionary Voices: Lighting the Way,” a new promotional campaign aimed at connecting visitors with New Bedford’s rich history, art and culture.
Have an Authentic Benjamin Franklin Beer
The brewery has been working on developing a truly historic beer that will be the rage among history nerds (like me). The name of the beer is “Visionary Voices." It will be brewed using corn, molasses and malted barley as hops, a main ingredient in today’s beer, was not prevalent in the late 1700s.
Moby Dick Brewer Scott Brunelle developed the beer based on one of Benjamin Franklin’s recipes. It is available on cask at Moby Dick Brewing Co.
Imagine what it would be like to sip on a beer with one of the greatest revolutionary and diplomatic minds in American history. If you were to enjoy a beer with Benjamin Franklin, this is likely what he'd serve up to you.
The beer is available at Moby Dick Brewing Company, on the corner of Union and Water Street, New Bedford.
