NEW BEDFORD — New Bedford's Health Department has announced the closure of city beaches for swimming from today until further notice, according to a release from the city.

The measure has been taken due to the recent excessive rainfall, city officials said.

Water at all New Bedford beaches will be tested daily until the water quality becomes acceptable for swimming.
