NEW BEDFORD — Members of the New Bedford Police Department's Narcotics Unit took a loaded gun off the street when they made an arrest on Thursday night.

Jose Rosario, 29, of First Street, New Bedford, was charged with carrying a loaded firearm, possession of heroin with intent to distribute, possession of Suboxone and resisting arrest.

When officers approached Rosario on Ashley Street, he refused to stop and fled on foot. After jumping a fence and running through several yards, he was apprehended on Ruth Street.

Police found a .22 caliber revolver loaded with three rounds, heroin, suboxone and a small amount of cash.
