NEW BEDFORD — New Bedford Police seized a large amount of fentanyl and cash and arrested a city man with a previous conviction for dealing drugs.

On March 6, New Bedford Police Narcotics and Gang Unit detectives seized approximately 256 grams of fentanyl and $30,937 while executing search warrants at 50 Ashley Street, Apartment 3S, and 18 Vial Street.

Luis Santos, 40, of that Ashley Street apartment, was arrested and charged with trafficking in fentanyl in excess of 200 grams, possession with intent to distribute class B drugs, and subsequent offenses as a result of a prior conviction.

Police say Santos has a previous conviction for possession with intent to distribute class B from a case in January of 2020, during which he was distributing from the same apartment. He is currently on probation until October 2022.
