New Bedford Airport Receiving Half-Million in Federal Funds
The New Bedford Regional Airport will be receiving almost a half-million dollars in federal funding for the installation of new perimeter fencing.
The funding was announced today by Congressman Bill Keating, as part of an additional $1.96 million in funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation for four airports in Keating’s Ninth Congressional District.
The New Bedford Regional Airport will receive $472,500 for the fencing.
Two other local airports are also receiving funds for improvements; the Barnstable Municipal Airport is receiving $927,000 to acquire snow removal equipment, as well as $250,000 for an aircraft rescue vehicle, while the Plymouth Municipal Airport is receiving $51,300 to extend its taxiway.
