Near North End Shooting Victim Identified

The Bristol County District Attorney's office has released the name of the victim who was killed in a shooting Thursday afternoon in the Near North End.

Javon Brown, a 36-year-old Dartmouth resident, was shot outside the Metro PCS store at the corner of Coggeshall Street and Belleville Avenue around 12:30 p.m.

He was taken to St. Luke's Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the New Bedford Police’s Detectives Division at 508-991-6300.
