NBPD Arrest Man for OUI Drugs, Operating Without License

NEW BEDFORD — Police arrested a city man for causing a crash on Sunday while driving under the influence of drugs and without a license.

New Bedford Police responded to a motor vehicle crash in the area of 360 Ashley Boulevard just after 4:00 p.m. to find that the driver, 69-year-old Kenneth Vercammen, of 217 Deane Street, was unlicensed to be operating a motor vehicle.

Further investigation by police determined Vercammen was under the influence of pills as well.

Vercammen is charged with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and OUI drugs.
