New Bedford residents let images do the talking as a new mural was unveiled honoring those who join the nation's armed forces. The mural was revealed at the 9/11 Victims and Veterans memorial service held at the Fort Taber Community Center.

The Interchurch Council of Greater New Bedford's Reverend David Lima led the interfaith service, and says memorializations will always be necessary.

The three-panel mural reads "I will serve. I am serving. I have served," and features images of future, present, and past armed service members. It was created by members of YouthBuild and UMass Dartmouth's Center for Civic Engagement Southcoast Serves.
