MS-13 Gang Member Wanted for Homicide Apprehended in New Bedford

NEW BEDFORD — Officials from Immigrations and Customs Enforcement have confirmed that ICE agents apprehended a man in New Bedford Wednesday who was wanted for homicide in his native El Salvador.

ICE agents from the Boston field office detained Jose Daniel Guerra Castanda, who was the subject of an INTERPOL Red notice, an ICE official confirmed tell WBSM News.

ICE ERO Boston was notified by ICE ERO Virginia of the presence in the region of Guerra Castaneda. He was apprehended by ICE officers in New Bedford, and is being held in detention pending removal proceedings.

The ICE official also said Guerra Castaneda has been confirmed as a member of the Mara Salvatrucha, or MS-13, criminal gang organization. His gang alias is “El Pleitisto,” which translates to “The Arguer.”
