The Senate Committee on Post Audit and Oversight heard from policy makers and business leaders during a day long hearing on Wednesday. Lawmakers questioned government bureaucrats about why tax incentives are awarded to companies that fail to create jobs, and why tax breaks should be given to companies that locate in areas with low unemployment. Senator Mark Montigny of New Bedford is pushing for changes in the state's policies for tax incentives.

Montigny chairs the Post Audit and Oversight Committee. He expects the Legislature will be considering changes in tax incentive policies within the next year.
