FALL RIVER — The search for a missing Fall River woman is over after she is found dead near her home.

Janet Jiminez, 40, of Fall River, had been reported missing since July 3.

Fall River Police detectives and Massachusetts State Police searching near Jiminez's home yesterday found her body several blocks north of her residence at about 12:30 p.m.. Police say based on the condition of the body, it appears Jiminez had been dead for an extended period of time.

The Chief Medical Examiner's Office has taken custody of the body and will perfom an autopsy and toxicology testing to determine the cause of death.

Police say it does not appear that foul play was a factor in Jiminez's death.

Jiminez was last seen on July 3 at around 12 p.m. when she walked out of her apartment, leaving her phone behind and the oven turned on. Her vehicle was also found running in her driveway.

In earlier reports, police said Jiminez was bi-polar and suffered from numerous psychiatric issues. Police also said she had stopped taking her medication several days before she went missing.

The investigation into Jiminez's disappearance and death remains open and ongoing pending the results from the Medical Examiner's Office.
