REHOBOTH — A Middleboro man is charged in connection to a stabbing in Rehoboth.

Police in Rehoboth received a 911 call at around 1 a.m. on Sunday reporting that a victim in need of medical assistance "may have fallen onto glass."

Officials arrived at 120 Purchase Street and found a 19-year-old man bleeding heavily with stab wounds to his chest and abdomen. He was transported to Rhode Island Hospital in critical condition.

An investigation led Massachusetts State Police to obtain an arrest warrant for Jared Canto, 19, of Middleboro. He was arrested and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon in connection to the stabbing.

Canto is scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Taunton District Court.
