The area's only free breakfast program for those in need will remain open for the time being. Reverend Russ Chamberlain of Mercy Meals and More says he met with his Board of Directors Wednesday, and agreed to keep the kitchen running through the summer.

Reverend Russ says the program has only $3,000 of the $20,000 necessary to see the program into the autumn months.

He tells WBSM News fundraising efforts will continue, with a booth this weekend at the Whaling City Festival accepting donations large and small.

Several other fundraising efforts are being planned as well, including a booth at Joe Jesus' 50's Night, and a skydiving event.

Reverend Russ says donations of groceries are also accepted.
