New Bedford Mayor Jon Mitchell issued the following statement regarding the stabbing death of 15-year-old Mateo Morales Wednesday night.

"These were senseless and horrific acts of violence, and I appreciate the quick progress that the District Attorney’s Office, the Massachusetts State Police and the New Bedford Police Department have made in their investigation over the past 18 hours.  We won’t rest until all involved are brought to justice.  Our city will not tolerate youth violence," said Mitchell.

Two suspects arrested in connection with the stabbing, identified as 21-year-old Luis Rafael Class and a 16-year-old male, were both ordered held without bail in New Bedford District and New Bedford Juvenile Court.

The two other stabbing victims, identified as a 16-year-old male and a 22-year-old male, were hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.
