The Mattapoisett Chowder House has reopened.

A sign posted Tuesday on the front of the Route 6 seafood restaurant said the state Department of Revenue had seized the business for non-payment of taxes.

Owner Mark Koran tells WBSM News the matter was a misunderstanding, and the payment for December's taxes had been misapplied.

DOR's Maryann Merigan has confirmed the business owed the state nearly $59,000 in meals and withholding taxes.

Koran says the matter has been resolved, and the Mattapoisett Chowder House is back to operating during it's normal business hours.
