Trump Faces Harsh Poll Numbers in Massachusetts
Some Massachusetts voters might prefer a skin graft to spending another three years under President Donald Trump. I know that sounds rather sadistic, but Trump’s poll numbers just keep getting worse with Bay Staters.
I don’t get it. He’s such an entertaining guy, and like him or hate him, Trump does what he says he’s going to do, a rare quality in a modern-day politician.
Trump’s Past Performance in Massachusetts
Trump was soundly defeated in Massachusetts by Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton in 2016, who received 61 percent of the vote to Trump’s 33.3 percent. Despite this, Trump won the national election.
In 2020, Joe Biden beat Trump by an even wider margin in Massachusetts, earning 65.6 percent of the vote to Trump’s 32 percent, on the road to seemingly ending Trump’s political career after one term.
Trump scored a personal best of 36 percent to Kamala Harris’ 61.2 percent in 2024, but still lost the state, while achieving the biggest political comeback in American political history. The Trumpster was back.
Trump did better in Massachusetts in 2024, even carrying places such as Acushnet and Fall River. However, whatever love there was for Trump in Massachusetts appears to be disappearing.
New Morning Consult Poll Results
Boston.com reported that a new Morning Consult poll shows “Trump is very unpopular in Massachusetts.” He does better here than in Vermont, but not by much.

How New England States Rate Trump
“In Vermont, the state where Trump fared the worst, 64% of voters disapprove of him, which is up from 62% in March,” according to Boston.com. “Sixty-two percent of voters in Massachusetts disapprove of the president, making the Bay State second on the list of states where he is most unpopular. That’s up from 58% in March.”
Connecticut voters give Trump a 58 percent disapproval rating. In Rhode Island and Maine, Trump has a 56 percent disapproval rating, and in New Hampshire, it's 55 percent.
Where Trump Remains Popular
Trump’s highest approval rating, according to the Morning Consult poll, is 66 percent in Wyoming.
