Why Massachusetts Plummets to the Bottom Half of New WalletHub Patriotism Rankings
According to a recent survey, Massachusetts ranks in the bottom half of states for patriotism. Only Vermont (No. 3) and New Hampshire (No. 10) finished near the top in WalletHub's "Most Patriotic States in America" survey conducted in June.
Fox News Digital reported that WalletHub conducted the survey "using a methodology incorporating more than a dozen indicators."
"In order to determine where Americans have the most red, white, and blue pride on Independence Day and during the rest of the year, WalletHub compared the states across 13 key indicators of patriotism," said WalletHub financial writer Adam McCann.
"Being patriotic means loving your country and its people while also recognizing its flaws and striving to make it the best it can be," McCann wrote.

How New England States Fared in the Rankings
Massachusetts finished 31st in the WalletHub survey measuring patriotism in the states. Rhode Island ranked 42nd, Maine 26th, and Connecticut 32nd.
Are you sure this is where it all began?

Virginia topped the list of most patriotic states, followed by Montana. Arkansas came in last place, just ahead of New York.
WalletHub's Chip Lupo wrote, "The most patriotic states have a lot of residents who serve or have served in the armed forces, high voter turnouts during elections, and a high share of the population volunteering with national or local organizations."
Fox reported, "The survey claimed, according to its methodology, that the 19 'blue' states that voted for Kamala Harris in 2024 were on average more patriotic than the 31 that went for election victor Donald Trump."
Military Enlistment and Veteran Data Pull Down Massachusetts Scores
The survey found that Rhode Island (No. 46), Massachusetts (No. 47), and Vermont (No. 49) were near the bottom for "average number of military enlistees."
As for the number of veterans per capita, Connecticut (No. 46) and Massachusetts (No. 48) finished near the bottom.
Vermont (No. 2) boasted the most volunteers of any New England state. Rhode Island (No. 50) was dead last.
