Massachusetts Ranks Number One As Best State For Women

Massachusetts women can take a sigh of relief and rest assured that they are living in the best state for women in the country.

WalletHub conducted a study to determine how women are faring in each state and where they can find the best opportunities. Massachusetts claimed the No. 1 spot.

Main Findings from WalletHub

WalletHub compared the 50 states and the District of Columbia across 25 key indicators of living standards for women.

“Our data set ranges from median earnings for female workers to women’s health care to the female homicide rate,” WallerHub reported.

Cassandra Happe, a WalletHub analyst, shared how women in the United States are faced with a lot of adversity as opposed to their male counterparts, which can affect quality of life.

“The best states for women provide equitable economic conditions, encourage robust political participation, have quality health care, and ensure safety for the women who reside there,” she said.

Massachusetts Ranks #1 for Women

According to the study, Massachusetts has one of the lowest unemployment rates for women at 2.8%, and has the lowest share of women who don’t have health insurance at 2.1%.

“Women in Massachusetts can rely on great healthcare in general, as the state’s hospitals rank third in the nation for women’s health care, and only 7% of women couldn’t afford to see a doctor in the past year,” WalletHub said.

The state also boasts the third-highest life expectancy for women.
